Morning Market Baby Formula Drive

We have discovered that there is a need for baby formula at the Darling Clinic- for mothers who, for various reasons, are unable to breastfeed.
You can help in four ways:

1) Support our white elephant stall at the Morning Market on the 6th of June. All funds raised will go towards this project.

2) Bring us goods to sell at our stall at 10a.m at the Morning Market

3) Donate baby formula – bring to our stall

4) Donate funds – bring to our stall

The Trauma Room

This is a letter sent by Judith and Thello to their friends who helped raise funds to do up The Darling Trauma room at the police station. See Slide show for the pictures they took.

Here’s what happened to your ‘Thanksgiving’ donation.

Remember Girls Giving Thanks in Yzer Nov 30? Well, the donation box was full enough to help the Darling Angels with their Trauma Clinic makeover project.
They took a run down mess of a rondovel (a water tank in its previous incarnation) – and we’re sorry we don’t have photos of what that looked like – and transformed it into a clean and caring safe place. They tore down the old, tossed out the junk, repainted and refurnished during a week of hard work in steaming hot weather. We were there one day last week and witnessed all the love that went into it.
The photos in the Web album will show you the new entrance (with pots and plants, thanks to you) and some of the Darling Angels working inside on the last day hanging curtains, cleaning and arranging the new furniture (again, thanks to you).
The last photo is of Pearl, the coordinator, (and some friends) when she finally came to see the room finished and ready for her. It’s not a great pic because it doesn’t show the look of delight and real appreciation that spread across her face. Her work involves caring for anyone who has been physically abused. With the Angels and your help, she can now welcome these people into a place that shows them respect.

Thank you Judith and Thello xxx

What Is "The Darling Angels"?

The Darling Angels:
Inspired by Ophra Winfrey’s Angel Network
http://oprahsangelnetwork.org/about-us/overview

Vision
To establish a network of caring community members in Darling who will make a difference in others’ lives by providing relief from suffering to give them a chance to heal, or find the “next step”in rising to their potential.

Strategy
The Darling Angels operate as a network of members of our community who wish to be of service through providing a resource by donating either their time, money, goods or services. It also acts as eyes and ears in the village to locate those who are suffering and in need of help.
The resources donated will be for individuals, families, or groups who need a push start for something important, who have an emergency, or an urgent need. The trust is not for luxuries - it is to provide a miracle blessing when there seems to be no hope. There are already organisations in Darling dealing with the big socio-economic challenges. This organisation is concerned with small acts of kindness towards those who would otherwise slip below the radar.

In essence, the purpose of the Darling Angels is:
· To locate needs in the community
· To locate and collect resources
· To co-ordinate the distribution of donated resources to where they are most needed.

Structure
A core group of volunteers will meet on a regular basis to report on needs in the community and available resources. We choose to operate, for the most part, anonymously, as we feel this will keep the focus on the work to be done.
The organisation is non-hierarchical: anyone can attend meetings and any major roles will be rotated, such as spokes person, etc.

“I don't know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.” Albert Schweitzer

We are blessed when we are able to turn our attention away from ourselves, towards others who are in need. Being of service facilitates joy and so we extend hope, help, compassion and joy like a rainbow over Darling.

Everyone can be an Angel!
